Pioneer Automobiles was founded by Jim Thompson 45 years ago. He built up the business over the years with a reputation for interesting good quality classic cars at affordable prices. Jim retired in October 2010 and sold the business to Pioneer Autos Limited, a company owned and run by Mark and Dee Furneaux. Jim continues to advise the business in his new role as a consultant and will be seen at Gidley Farm from time to time.
Information for purchasers
The Pioneer Automobiles showroom is located just off Junction 13 of the M4, about 1 hour from Heathrow or Southampton airports and less than 2 hours from Birmingham and Gatwick. The Severn Bridge can be reached in about 1 hour.
Enjoy the relaxed atmosphere. We do viewings by appointment on Monday through Friday and on Saturday; we are closed on Sundays. At your viewing appointment you will be able to discuss your prospective purchase on a one to one basis, feeling free to express your delights and disappointments out of the Vendor's earshot. Bona fide customers may test drive the vehicle of their choice but should bring their driving license with them.
Once inspection is complete, you are not faced with a hectic few minutes of public competition, as at auction, so can make your offer in the same relaxed mode. A non-refundable deposit will secure a vehicle. We take most major debit and credit cards. You are always welcome to return if more time is needed.

Information for vendors
We sell many cars each year on commission on behalf of the owner. This provides a stress free, hastle free process that may well give the same or higher return to the owner than the other methods. Vehicles are offered for sale in a pleasant and relaxed environment, in a large barn set on working farms in picturesque Berkshire countryside. Collection of your vehicle can be arranged or you are welcome to bring it to Peasemore personally. Any pre-sale work can be carried out on your behalf such as M.O.T.'s, valeting etc.
Your vehicle will quickly appear on this website which receives approximately 2,000 visits a month. It will also appear on the Car and Classic, Classic Cars For Sale, and other websites. Details of your car will also be emailed to our opt-in mailing list of around 200 recipients. We advertise each week in Classic Car Weekly, every month in The Automobile, and from time to time in other classic car magazines.
Viewing is carried out away from your home, your privacy is preserved and time wasters avoided. All negotiating is left to Pioneer Automobiles including coping with part exchanges. Where an offer is made we will contact you to see if it is acceptable and to let you know what your return would be. Payment usually within 5 days of us having received cleared funds from separate Client Account.

Selling a car can be a nightmare featuring endless dreamers/time wasters, dubious characters and financial irregularities. Not so if you use Pioneer: good advice, excellent presentation and photos, fair commission, and proper documentation. I came via a recommendation and would not hesitate to either sell through them again or buy. No silly prices, overly flamboyant descriptions, gratuitous history lessons or other distasteful behaviour sometimes associated with the car trade.
